Destinations: Shopping in Austin

The W Austin is a part of downtown Austin's 2nd Street District, which also happens to be one of the best places to shop in the city. Here are some of the Austin boutiques that I loved exploring during my visit:
Luxe Apothetique in Austin's 2nd Street District
Luxe Apothetique: Combining fashion, beauty and unique gifts under one roof, Luxe Apothetique was one of my favorite stops in the 2nd Street District. The clothes here are stylish and fairly priced, and I especially love that Luxe also carries high-end beauty brands like Bliss, Jane Iredale and Bumble & Bumble. I picked up one of the cool Austin coasters as a memento of my trip.
Duo boutique in downtown Austin
Duo: What started as a family of boutiques in Houston is now a favorite among Austin's fashion-forward crowd. Though there are a handful of Duo boutiques, every location is different in its design and product. While Luxe Apothetique focuses on female style, Duo is a shopping destination for both men and women. I loved Duo's selection of fun and flirty tops - perfect for summer!
Langford Market in Austin
Langford Market: If I had to rate the boutiques in Austin's 2nd Street District based on architectural aesthetic, Langford Market would top the list. It's a wide open space with soft pink walls and light wood accents. You feel right at home as soon as you step through the doors! Besides women's clothing, Langford Market also sells a small selection of local art.

The following places to shop in Austin aren't a part of the 2nd Street District, but they're worth a mention:
The gift shops at Hotel San Jose and Hotel Saint Cecilia sell interesting and modern gift-y goods.
Bastrop, a small town 30 minutes from Austin, has some cute and kitschy must-see spots - like the Sugar Shack.
Besides the Sugar Shack, the Texas Boot Company (center) is another Bastrop store to put on your Austin shopping tour.
