Today the fiance and I are checking into
The Saguaro, the new kid on the Scottsdale hotel block. Back in the day, it was a James Hotel. Then it was a Mondrian and then a totally random hotel by the name of Hotel Theodore. I've got high hopes for The Saguaro because, for the first time in a long time, it seems like hotel ownership has actually put thought into design, amenities and community events. I'm especially excited to check out:
- The Saguaro Spa, where treatments are a mix of Sonoran Desert-inspired ingredients and a Nuevo Latino perspective.
- Distrito, a modern Mexican restaurant from James Beard Award Winner Chef Jose Garces.
- Old Town Whiskey, also created by Garces, where I'm sure fiance will try more than 1 of the 100+ varieties.
- A somewhat secret outdoor haven where, I'm told, the hammocks are a win.
We've got some fun stuff coming your way on The Saguaro, so be sure to check back for our coverage of the
Scottsdale hotel! (By "we," I mean me and the fiance. You didn't think he was just getting a free hotel stay out of this, did you?)
