Honeymoon Ideas: Turks & Caicos

We're still on the hunt for a honeymoon destination! Recently, a Twitter follower (@carlatracy) recommended we check out Turks and Caicos.

Before doing my research, all I knew about the area is that it was a collection of Caribbean islands. And that it was beautiful. Really, really beautiful:

Obviously, research has confirmed this fact. But it's also uncovered some really interesting historical bits about the region. For example, did you know that the first people who settled Turks and Caicos crossed over from nearby Hispaniola around the year 500? I'm also totally geeking out over the fact that the islands served as a hideout for pirates in the 18th century.

Only 8 of the 40 Turks and Caicos islands are inhabited and one of the more popular vacation spots is Providenciales. On this island, I'm told The Somerset on Grace Bay is a must for honeymooners. Apparently, Grace Bay has been named one of the top 10 best beaches in the world - something, I admit, immediately grabbed my attention. In my head, all I see is turquoise water and white sand.

Besides the "wow" factor, The Somerset looks like an awesome honeymoon resort because there is plenty on property to keep us busy: dining and spa, yes, but also two freshwater pools, complimentary snorkeling gear and beach games, and even paddleboards and kayaks.

The Somerset's location on Grace Bay is also convenient. Should we ever decide to venture off of the beach (doubtful), we're only minutes from other restaurant and entertainment options.

Thanks to Carla for the recommendation!

You've all given us some awesome honeymoon ideas so far. So, I'm curious: Does anyone have recommendations on their favorite all-inclusive resort experiences? We figured we'd explore that option, too. Let me know by leaving a comment on this post or tweet me @Little_K.
